Somewhere between a wading bird, a deer, and something that only exists in a dream, this is a creature that never made it onto the ark. I called it One of the Creatures God Forgot to Make because that is exactly what it looks like: a leftover sketch from creation, welded into being.
I built it from upcycled steel, joined at heavy riveted joints so the whole thing looks like it might shift its weight and take a step. The neck arches up to a bright copper collar, and set into that collar is a real forked antler that becomes the head, tan and curving and unmistakably alive against all that dark iron. Every material was salvaged, every weld is mine, and there will never be another one exactly like it.
Standing about a foot tall on its own steel base, it holds its own on a mantel, a bookshelf, an entry table, or a desk.
